Demo 1
Start with a bang! CaC2 + H2O --> C2H2 (g) + Ca(OH)2
- a) do in large beaker (Brad)
- b) do in small bottle (Chris)
- c) do in larger bottle (Steve)
- d) larger (Chris pretends...)
Demo 2
String in a box...questions/theories... (Brad)
Demo 3
Chris
- Magic Jug
- Requires Six clear glasses and a clear jug.
- A jug of Ammonium Iron 3 sulfate
- Glass one - Potassium thiocyanate
- Glass two - Barium chloride
- Glass three - Potassium ferrocyanide
- Glass four - Tannic Acid
- Glass five - L-tartaric acid
- Glass six - Sodium bisulfite
- Traffic Light Reaction
- Two beakers of water.
- Glucose in the larger (~700 ml warm water)
- NaOH in the smaller (~250 ml cold water)
- Indigo carmine in the larger beaker (turns blue)
- Combine the two beakers and get green for a moment, then red, orange, yellow.
- Addition of oxygen will turn the reaction back to red.
Demo 4
Steve Universal indicator in flat panel "canvas'
- add HCl to make it turn red (Monmouth)
- add NaOH to make it turn purple (Knox)
- add CO2 when Red to have it change.
Demo 5
LED lights/PDA/Lasers and Fog machine (all)
Demo 6
Float Sink game...
- pop cans
- bowling balls
Demo 7
Magnet and Cu tubing...(Steve)
Demo 8
End with a bang...Methanol pop bottles...with cups of confetti on top...
