History
At the 2019 MACTLAC meeting at St. Catherine's University in St. Paul, MN one of the plenary lectures was given by Irv Levy, Director Beyond Benign: Green Chemistry Education and Chair of the ACS committee of chemical education. The title of his presentation was, “Green Chemistry Commitment implementation at PUIs .” Also presented at this MACTLAC meeting was a breakout session on "Microwave chemistry in laboratory instruction" presented by James Wollack and the reps from Anton-Paar. After returning from the MACTLAC meeting (BES) it was proposed that our department make the "Green Chemistry Commitment" and in addition we apply for a PittConn grant in order to purchase a microwave reactor in order to think more about small scale, faster reactions.
