BES applied to be an NSF S-STEM Reviewer. Below is the application statement:
Bradley E. Sturgeon, PhD is an emeritus chemistry faculty member at Monmouth College, an ACS-accredited small private liberal arts college in Illinois. He has over 20 years of undergraduate-focused teaching and research experience in the field of experimental (EPR) and computational physical chemistry. Professor Sturgeon has served as the chair of multiple faculty committees including finance, student affairs, and curriculum. He has a very hands-on approach to teaching students in both classroom, laboratory, and research settings. He was the director of the College’s endowed summer research program. Professor Sturgeon used creative means to deliver science content including the addition the MAKER tools (3D printing, laser cutting, glassblowing, air and water drone technology, and VR/AR equipment) and a week-long remote field experience on Andros Island, Bahamas to study the culture, art, and science of blue holes in this isolated ecosystem. Professor Sturgeon has received funding from PittCon, Research Corporation for Science Advancement, and has contributed to two funded PUI NSF-MRI proposals.
