Microbial Biotransformation of Endogenous and Exogenous Biomolecules

Summary of first attempts:

This was an early attempt to evaluate whether bacteria can metabolize biophenols. In this experiment we use the "hollow fiber" system to circulate a solution of HPA with plans to add a bacteria to the system. Prior to adding any bacteria it was determined via HPLC that HPA was oxidize by the action of circulation and hence did not require any external forces. This data confused us and we stopped experimentation to review our procedures. (BES)
