IL-IA Local Section ACS Processes Document

The following is a processes document associated with the operations of the IL-IA Local Section American Chemical Society (ACS).

Excepts from Bylaws

(BL# = Bylaw number, S# = Section number, ex. BL1S3 = Bylaw 1, Section 3)

- The Section is organized exclusively for charitable, educational, and scientific purposes (BLY1S3)

- Officers of this Section (BL4S1,2,3):

• Chair (1 year term),

The Chair shall preside over the Executive Committee meetings (see below) and all Section meetings/programs. The Chair shall serve as Program Chair (see below under Section Meetings and Programs). The Chair shall be responsible for the overall administration and efficient operation of the Section (BL4S4). The Chair will appoint a nominating committee in September (BL8S1 - see more below under Elections).

• Chair-Elect (1 year term),

The Chair-Elect shall succeed to the Chair at the expiration of the Chair’s term of office. The Chair-Elect has no standing obligations, but in the absence of the Chair, will preside at all meetings of the Section and Executive Committee (BY4S5).

• Secretary (1 year term)

• Treasurer (1 year term),
• Councilors (1, determined by Section membership numbers),
• Alternate Councilor (1, determined by Section membership numbers), and
• Immediate Past Chair.
