The ammonia test comes from the Saltwater Master Test Kit created by API MARINE

What the test is used for:

The test is used to determine the concentration of
ammonia in the aquarium in parts per million.

Effect of Ammonia on Aquarium:

Ammonia is in the residue produced by the life in
the aquarium, like fish waste. This waste contributes
to the pH, nitrite and eventually the nitrate level as well.
If there is too much ammonia, the aquarium will no longer
be a safe environment for things to live in.

Test Procedure:

 1) Fill a test tube with 5ml of aquarium water
 2) Add 8 drops from Ammonia Test Solution #1
 3) Add 8 drops from Ammonia Test Solution #2
 4) Cap the test tube and shake vigorously for 5 seconds
 5) Wait 5 minutes for the color to develop
 6) Compare the color of the solution in the test tube to
    the Ammonia Color Chart provided

Recommended Ammonia levels (ppm):

For most aquariums, a low level of ammonia is okay.
This applies to this aquarium as well, as our levels should
 be 0ppm - 0.50ppm
