Carry-on Bags
Personal gear should be packed into 2 “carry-on” bags:
- 1) a soft duffle bag ~22” x 14” x 9”, and
- 2) a standard backpack ~ 12” x 6” x 14”.
- The above mentioned sizes are so that your bags can be carried onto the plane in Chicago with one bag placed in the overhead bin and the other at your feet. Bags/luggage with “hard edges” are difficult to pack in the plane from Nassau to Andros Island. The total combined weight of both bags must not exceed 40 lbs.
Clothing Packing tips
- Plan to dress in layers, a rain/wind shell is a good top layer if it gets cooler. - Bring ONE set of nicer clothes that can be worn twice, once for church on Sunday and twice for dinner out Thursday. - You know better your tolerance for re-wearing clothes, but I suggest a ~daily change of socks (unless you were sandals over shoes) and undergarments, 1-2 pairs of light weight long pants/sweat pants, 6-8 shirts/tops (short sleeved, long sleeved, tank-tops), sleeping attire, and 2 swimsuits. Brad’s packing strategy 1) Leave Monmouth in jeans, tee-shirt, long-sleeve fleece hoody, tennis shoes, and coat. 2) Leave coat in van at airport. 3) Wear jeans/tee-shirt/hoody/tennis shoes on plane. 4) Upon arrival at Forfar, change into shorts/swim trunks, tee-shirt, and Teva’s. 5) Maybe put on light-weight sweat pants and hoody after dinner if cooler temps. 6) Wear light-weight sweat pants or shorts with tee-shirt/hoody to breakfast. 7) On Sunday we are going to church; after breakfast, clean up and put on light-weight khaki pants, button-down short-sleeve shirt and Teva’s. 8) For land trips: wear shorts/long-sleeve shirt/tennis shoes and pack swim suit, light-weight sweat pants and hoody into day pack (backpack). 9) For water trips: wear swim suit/long-sleeve shirt/Teva’s and pack light-weight sweat pants (in plastic bag) and rain/wind shell into the day pack (backpack). 10) Thurs night we eat dinner out; I will re-wear my church clothes. 11) Will wear my jeans, clean tee-shirt, hoody (for not too dirty), and tennis shoes on the return trip.
