from "Call for Proposals"
Proposals for a one-course release to pursue scholarly activity.
- Professional development
- Scholarly research
- Instructional development
- New course development
Directions...from "Call"
- - One-page proposal,
- - detailing the intended project
- - connections to present work.
Review Criteria (proposed/flexible)
- is proposal 1-page? yes/no
- 1-page, not 2...follow directions!
- is there 1 or more intended project listed? yes/no
- multiple project seems too much for a single course release.
- is there a current connection to the intended project? yes/no
- are they requesting exemption from committee assignment? yes/no
Other
- pre-tenure or post tenure?
- Q: is it "correct" to give pre-tenure faculty release time...i am guessing that all pre-tenure faculty would WANT and even FEEL that they need more time, but do we really what pre-tenure faculty swapping teaching time for scholarly activities so early in their MC career?
- Can this be done on an up and coming sabbatical?
- Is the project timely...ie. need to be done during the proposed term?
- Is a course release really going to allow this individual the time necessary to be successful with the proposed project?
