1. Rationale: This independent study course will entail making service calls on Scots Roast and Monmouth Coffee Project retail and commercial clients. As customer service is a critical element in providing quality products and services, the student will benefit as a business major. This course will give him experience working with a “client” and provide the opportunity to gain confidence in applying classroom knowledge and more.

2. Goals: The student will learn how to; service a retail account (stocking and displaying merchandise); work with an account to expand sales; manage inventory; and implement a reorder system.

3. Requirements: Student will; attend weekly coffee project meetings, make weekly service calls to retail accounts to count inventory and place reorders, deliver and restock product, and tend product display.

Student will deliver a 3 to 5 page paper describing how a system was implemented and streamlined. The student will also discuss what they learned about distribution, about dealing with a retail account, and what they learned about Customer Service.
