Build a simple electric motor...like this
Why?
- - As we begin our discussion of entropy (Chapter 5), we will explore spontaneous processes. In Sec 5.10 we will be introduced to the "heat engine" (a device that spontaneously rotates), a device that converts heat (q) into work (w). In the past, PChem lab has constructed a Stirling Engine (a heat engine), but the success rate has been low, so i decided to make a simpler "engine"...ie an electric motor where electrical current is converted to work.
During lab we also will "play" with some high rpm motors in small drones...and maybe the DJI Mavic Air.
