The Chemistry department has requested an inorganic chemistry tenure-track position for the past 6 years. This request was initially stimulated by the department's need to cover all teaching areas of chemistry (organic, inorganic, analytical, physical, biochemistry), the growth in majors/graduates, and the rigorous research requirement. As of 2015, our accrediting agency (the American Chemical Society - ACS) revised/updated departmental requirements, now requiring we teach an introductory inorganic chemistry course and to have 5 full-time chemistry faculty.

The primary reason for the request follows:
1) Our department is accredited by the American Chemical Society (ACS) and updates to the requirements in 2015 now require 5 tenure
2) The need to support increasing departmental resources (Kieft fund, Knox fund, Summer research, Science pool, etc)

"ACS promotes excellence in chemistry education for undergraduate students through approval of baccalaureate chemistry programs. ACS-approved programs offer a broad-based and rigorous chemistry education that gives students intellectual, experimental, and communication skills to become effective scientific professionals."
